AbstractThe aim of this work was to evaluate different digital processing images techniques for area estimate cultivated with flooded rice, in the municipality of Santa Vitória do Palmar, Rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil. The best results obtained in the estimate area were for the RGB - 453 composition, segmented using the thresholds of 10 grey levels and 50 area pixels. The Isoseg classifier with 90% of threshold similarity presented the best value of Kappa with 0,86, classified with excellent. The other used techniques generated good results, however, the cost computational was elevated, what made unfeasible the estimate of flooded rice areas in Santa Vitória do Palmar municipality using these techniques.
